Toronto City under Fire

Toronto City under Fire

After attending a community event that involved looking for solutions to help stop the  spread of Ebola on October 6 2014 ironically held at the very same school that a young boy goes to who lost his life to gun violence.  Last night the air at James Cardinal McGuigan Catholic High School, was one of a positive nature, ab gathering of community individuals who same share the same interest in looking for  solutions. Well that was the cause last night.

Now today, October 7 2014 Students will have learned that their school has lost one. How does a school of youths face the day with such  a heavy spirit and a saddened heart ?

Toronto Catholic District School Board trustee Maria Rizzo has identified the 15-year-old victim as a student at James Cardinal McGuigan Catholic High School. Keele and finch  His name has not been released.

What happened to looking forward to  lunch time, it used to be the ideal time to have fun with your friends, eat plaza food and talk about the first part of your day now sounds like this :

Two young people are dead following a “targeted” double shooting in Etobicoke Monday that resulted in the lockdown of one high school and the securing of three others.
Toronto Police were called around 12:30 p.m. to a green space behind a social housing complex on Islington Ave., near Dixon Rd., and found two males in their teens suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
One was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other died hours later in hospital.

Don Bosco Catholic Secondary School, which is located across the street from the apartment complex, was placed in a hold and secure situation by police for almost two hours, while the Toronto District School Board’s School of Experiential Education, which backs onto the shooting scene, was placed in full lockdown mode.

23 Division Police say they are interviewing several witnesses after they received a 911 call at around 12:30 p.m. for a shooting at the rear of 2063 Islington Avenue.

Yesterday I thought to myself what a heart felt day for a Parent, that call that your child has been the next victim to gun violence. I pray for them all.

But to be frank, today will really be the day of challenge so many question and little answers for the parents of the  3  youths found dead  on October 6 2014.  I am a Mother of  a 15 year old  Son  and I am a Etobicoke resident.

These two murders  happened  3minutes away from my residence.   The Saddest part, was yesterday when  my  Son came home from school our conversation  normally would be about school but  the first thing out of  his mouth was "Mom did you hear about the shootings"? He  says "Mom they are my age"; It's sick, sad and puzzling  because last week  I was listening to counselors and trustees taking about their aim to increase school programs and job search programs for Etobicoke Youths.

This incidence  has spread across the city's  wards 7 and 2 and now we're searching for grief counselors and funeral parlors when will this end #stopviolencenow

Do remember that
The 2014 Toronto municipal election will occur on October 27, 2014 to elect a mayor and 44 city councillors in Toronto, Canada. In addition, school trustees will be elected to the Toronto District School Board, Toronto Catholic District School Board, Conseil scolaire de district du Centre-Sud-Ouest and Conseil scolaire de district catholique Centre-Sud.

This will be your opportunity to be the voice for your community. Pick the candidate that will truly work to help solve some of these issues surrounding our Toronto youths.

Let's all work together to help stop Gun Violence.

  1. This is so frightening and disappointing. Vote for the politicians who believe in grassroots oppurtunity and development.
