FIND OUT WHY YOU SHOULD BE ADDING PARSLEY TO YOUR GROCERY LIST

Hi  lovely readers it your girl  JA Nursing here, with  winter reaming it's ugly head, I will continue to look for alternatives solutions.  Be aware  that the information that  I provide does not replace  medical advice. The knowledge that I am giving you is at best, an empowerment tool. My goal is help you advocate for your self with your health care provider. Our services provide you with the convenient health coaching approach, which will enable use to feel empowered for the rest of your life.

During the fall and  winter chronic illness sufferers have a harder time with maintaining  a healthy life style. It's a fact that individuals sometimes become less active  when it is gloomy and cool outside.  Which can lead to increased arthritis flare ups, or difficulties keeping diabetes under control  due to  most people going back into old habits with those delicious comfort foods that tend to keep you warm in the winter.

I went on another search. Parsley is one of those herbs that I would say hold the same merit like thyme in  a West Indian household  minus the health benefits. Most of my Italian clients swear by parsley and it's benefits so let me share with you what I found. The health benefits of parsley include controlling cancer, diabetes, and rheumatoid arthritis, along with helping prevent osteoporosis. Furthermore, it acts as a pain reliever with anti-inflammatory properties. Parsley also provides relief from gastrointestinal issues such as indigestion, stomach cramps, bloating, and nausea, while helping to strengthen the immune system.  Parsley is the same like cilantro, used for garnishing and seasoning soups, stew and sauces. Nutritional Value Of Parsley Fresh Parsley is a nutritional powerhouse with vitamins A, B, C and K and the minerals iron and potassium.

Beyond water weight, parsley aids in balancing blood sugar, helping with long-term weight balance. It also plays a key role in preventing the degenerative effects of diabetes on the liver.
Here are five more reasons to include parsley in every meal:
1. Reduce your cancer risk
Eating parsley can reduce the risk of cancers such as breast, digestive tract, skin and prostate. Parsley contains high levels of a flavonoid called apigenin. Not only does apigenin possesses remarkable anti-cancer properties, it’s also a powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. apigenin is emerging as the toughest cancer fighter in the produce aisle. In addition to parsley, celery and artichokes, you'll find it in apples, cherries, grapes, chamomile tea and wine, and in herbs such as tarragon, cilantro, licorice, spearmint, basil and oregano.

2. Improve your immune function
Parsley may help to modulate the immune system. Parsley essential oil has been shown to suppress an over-stimulated immune response making it a key player in the fight against allergies, autoimmune and chronic inflammatory disorders.
3. Beat inflammation
detoxing parsley shakeParsley helps to reduce the pain and swelling associated with arthritis. Parsley contains a volatile oil called eugenol that has been shown in studies to have strong anti-inflammatory as well as anti-arthritic properties and can significantly suppress swelling in the joint.Parsley Parsley is gluten free, therefore, best herb to reduce the symptoms of allergies. Parsley has antibacterial and antifungal properties work as a cleaning agent and cure skin infection, acne, dark circles, and blemishes. Yeah!

4. Fight disease
Parsley offers protection from a wide variety of diseases – from atherosclerosis, diabetes and colon cancer to asthma! Parsley is an excellent source of vitamin C, which is a key nutrient in the processes that neutralizes the free radicals that play a key role in the development of these diseases. Parsley oil is also used as a face pack but always use it diluted otherwise it can burn your skin. Antioxidant in parsley prevents from free radical damage reduces the sign of early aging
5. Protect your blood vessels
Parsley is a good source of one of the most important B vitamins: folic acid. Folic acid helps to reduce homocysteine. Homocysteine is a naturally occurring amino acid in the body but high levels in the blood can damage blood vessels increasing the risk of heart attack and stroke. This emerald green herb is popular among starlets who want to drop extra water weight before big events because it helps to reduce water retention and bloating (edema). It’s a natural diuretic, which helps to eliminate excess fluid without depleting the body of potassium.sodium including dietary fiber.

Always remember not everything that glitters is gold use  every thing in moderation. Consumption of parsley especially in large quantities, may have side effects and disadvantages. Some of them include the following:

Risky for Pregnant Women: The consumption of large quantities of parsley may induce uterine contractions during pregnancy. At any stage of pregnancy, this can be very risky. Large amounts of parsley are not safe for women who are breastfeeding. Avoiding excessive consumption of parsley during pregnancy and breastfeeding is strongly advised.

Oxalate Over-consumption: Parsley has a high quantity of oxalates. This high concentration can be particularly problematic for people who suffer from kidney stones.

Here’s an incredibly potent detox green smoothie for you that is also an excellent source of iron. It contains iron-rich greens like dandelion and parsley, which also facilitates detox.
Pineapple sweetens it up nicely while supplying the protein-digesting enzyme, bromelain.
I added the pear to help thicken it, if you don’t have pear you can always add apple. This smoothie is slightly bitter so if you’d prefer to have it even sweeter, then use a medium banana instead of pear or apple.
This smoothie is also full of fiber with 17.9 grams.
Pregnant women should not consume parsley. Parsley contains an essential oils called apiole. Apiole is a kidney stimulant. Because this essential oil can stimulate uterine contractions, pregnant women should avoid eating large quantities of it.

Iron-Rich Pineapple Detox Recipe

  • 1 cup fresh Italian parsley, chopped
  • 3 cups dandelion greens, chopped
  • 1 large pear, cored
  • 2 cups pineapple, cubed
  • 8 ounces of filtered water

updated original post June 14/2015 thank you to the 170 readers who read this post.
Tonight was a night of community love the reason for this blog is to support the Front Room as well as a organization in Peel that I look forward to working with.  Social Advocacy is combined with seeing the community as change agents.

it's your Girl JA Nursing here. with your social advocate buzz of the day.... in a few hours  ago I  was joined   by Angela J Carter Of United Achievers Inc.  as a speaker at JNB  town hall  meeting hosted by Mary Galvin of JNB Money Transfer.  UACS inc  is  a community organization in Peel  that work to up lift the community of peel. JA Nursing We Care Inc  is a community organization for the community and  with that mission it also includes working with all organizations to create the common goal of community advancement.  With that being said Brampton   get ready for another  epic night of Laughter therapy when  the cast of Marcia Brown Productions presents Front Room Another hit comedy show.
August  8 2015 one show only add Front Room to your calendar. Get your tickets today by using PROMOCODE  JANURSING

Having the opportunity to meet Marcia Brown, as she hosted a fundraiser for  Gerdine  Graham Foundation for Leukemia. At that moment when she described me as a Diva I knew she has a passion for comedy and the arts. Marcia Brown is the founder and artistic director of Marcia Brown Productions. She is an acclaimed producer, writer, director and performer. She is one of the premier female actresses in Toronto's Caribbean community with a reputation that affords her familiarity and trust among avid theatergoers.
Upon moving to Canada in 1989, Marcia realized quite early that there would be challenges in the industry, the primary being “lots of talent and not enough opportunities”. Despite this challenge she was able secure roles in a few Jones & Jones Productions’ stage plays. She later worked with Theater in The Rough, We Are One Theater and a few other local community groups. While she appreciated those opportunities Marcia knew in her heart that they were just not enough and she had to find a medium to create more opportunities for herself and then for others. She started by writing short comedy skits and performed them for small to medium-size audiences then in 2000 she combined her vast experience in theatre with her producing skills to formulate what would later become Marcia Brown Productions.

The plays produced by Marcia Brown Productions include: “Common-Law”, “Wipe That Smile”, “Rosetta”, “Single Entry”, "Feminine Justice", "Children Children" and "Country Duppy" and I Need To Know My Father. Of the lot, she directed “Wipe That Smile” & “Feminine Justice” and all have seen returns for encore performances. However the greatest production achievement so far has been “I Need To Know My Father” which has evolved into the longest running local production in the history of the Toronto Theater scene.

Marcia has performed in all the plays produced by her production company. This is not an easy feat; from studying lines, developing characters, scouting locations, selecting suitable crew members and financing the dream, her hands have indeed been full.

Front Room is a slice of Jamaican life that is nostalgic, spirited, tangy, real and hilariously funny. Set in the inner city of down-town Kingston, Front Room gives an authentic view of a tenement yard situation when the biggest room in the yard becomes vacant.

This front room carries a perception of prestige and is the envy to not only the tenants in the yard but the entire area. Miss Pinky (a tenant in the yard), a bible touting born again Christian firmly believes she is next in line to get the front room given her “hush-hush” relationship with the landlord Mr. Keys. It would also create a good impression on her niece Peaches who will be coming from the country to stay with her while she attends nursing school in Kingston.

Miss Pinky is therefore very infuriated when she is side stepped by Mr. Keys and the front room is rented to a total stranger, Miss Melva. These are all the ingredients needed for a roller-coaster ride filled with drama and laughter, all larger and more genuine than life itself.

It is the tug-an-war for the front room that develops the characters and scenes in Front Room. Of course there are conflicts in relationships among the people, but this does not prevent the community from uniting itself when a member of the yard is threatened. It is the Jamaica of today that is mirrored in ‘Front Room’, the real builders, the real people who stalwartly take life’s problems as they come, solve them the best way possible and move on in their particular way of improving their quality of life.

Review....
Front Room   opened June 14 2015

Without giving away the story, this Play is A must see. Miss  Pinky and her comical speaking,  to Mr Keys and his love for helping people, all the Actors on set, bring you on a real roller- coaster ride that will have you leaving  with tears in your eye and a belly full of joy. Front Room will  be another great hit, added to the list of productions that MBP has put on.
The surprising reveals and and the big yard battle field approach will certainly have you wanting more.  August 8 2015  get your tickets and make it a date to see Front Room tickets are going fast

Hey, it's your girl, JANURSING  I've been thinking a lot lately about why I do what I do. And I realized it all comes back to 2002. ...
