YOU ARE INVITED TO Atoms Of Fashion October 24 2015 GET YOUR TICKETS TODAY

Hi It's your  Girl JA Nursing here with a couple days left for Atoms Of Fashion  to hit The6ix Lets do a little review of Sickle Cell

Sickle Cell Disease (also called Sickle Cell Anemia) is a group of red blood cell disorders you have inherited and are born with.  Currently there is no universal cure for sickle cell disease.
It is something you will have your whole life, and need to learn how to live with it, so that you can continue living as normally as possible, with schooling, work, and family life. As it is inherited, you also need to know your partner’s Sickle Cell status as you could pass it onto your future children too.
     Get Your Tickets Today!!!!
    http://www.eventbrite.com/o/atoms-of-fashion-8423131053

All races should be screened for this hemoglobin at birth.
A carrier of sickle cell disease is also said to have the sickle cell trait. This person has inherited a sickle cell gene from a parent, but does not have sickle cell disease and is not more likely to get sick than any other person. They do not need special medical care and will not develop sickle cell disease at any time in their life.
Why is it helpful to know that I am a carrier of sickle cell disease, or whether my child is a carrier?

Do You Know if  you  or your child has  sickle cell trait?   Is important for several reasons. When you are ready to have a family, your partner can have carrier testing so that you know, as a couple, if there is a chance of having a child with sickle cell disease. By having this information, you can let your child know if he or she is a carrier of sickle cell disease in the future.

Atoms of Fashion is a placeholder in the fashion industry, striking a mark that cannot be easily erased; creating a lasting fashion statement to hang in the gallery of our memory. We are motivated and highly inspired by fashion.

An underlining beauty of Atoms of Fashion is creating a strong network of great minds who inspire, lead and are entrepreneurs. They are wonderful people who seeks to make a difference with their talents and gifting’s with a genuine smile. We are also putting out a hi-fashion calendar for 2016 which we will be launching on October 24th of this year, this hi-fashion calendar is a project born from our vision for Atoms of Fashion.

On it we have worked with local models, fashion designers, make-up artist, brilliant stylist, creative director and photographer. Together with us, we have worked endlessly around the clock to perfect each image to exhibit a calendar that we all would be proud to display in our homes.

In light of greater collaboration with a purpose to make a difference, Atoms of Fashion in collaboration with Saya Foundation is very excited about giving back. Thus, we have created a Scholarship Fund for the young youths who have sickle cell anemia disease, but nevertheless strive above and beyond the limitation of their illness to pursue a post-secondary education.

The scholarship fund will be awarded to 4 Sickle Cell Anemia students heading to a university, college or recognized post-secondary institution in Ontario Canada. Essentially we promote Fashion with a Conscience. Atoms of Fashion (http://www.atomsoffashion.com) in collaboration with the non-profit organization Scago We will present the cheque to the President of Scago at the event on Oct. 24th 2015 a proud moment we will love for you to be a part of.

    DURHAM CARIBBEAN FESTIVAL OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED

    Durham uncovered

Hi world it's your girl JA Nursing, What a excitement yesterday June 8 2015 .  After meeting Mary Galvan at 1rst  Friday's , she invited me to The Media Launch Of Durham Caribbean festival. I thought to my self that Durham seems a mile a away. LOL  But truthfully the goal of JA Nursing is to build relationships with the community and bring awareness to events that increase social literacy. With such a diverse city I feel that all its community members should make a effort to share in the fun  especially since the common  factor here is the Caribbean culture and what it represents. Community love means taking the effort to participate when possible,  which is the true recipe for community love and community building.

After meeting Mary two days in row. I can certainly understand how her perseverance has  made her a noteworthy Member of Durham and surrounding communities. Congratulations on her Diversity Award from  The  Black Canadian Awards  which was held June 6 2015. Well DESERVED

    CEO Mission Statement

    (Caribbean Event Organization of Ontario)
Cultural diversity is a part of our Canadian identity. It is a part of our country, our workplaces and our schools, a part of our day-to-day lives. Our friends, neighbors and coworkers likely all stem from a variety of ethnic groups. This diversity is an asset; we can learn from one another but, first, we must understand one another in order to work together effectively. The Durham Caribbean Festival has been created to raise awareness of cultural diversity and to help dispel negative stereotypes.

The Caribbean Event Organization of Ontario believes that the diversity in our community is a fundamental strength of our region. Our mission to improve the quality of life for the residents of our region is best fulfilled when we embrace diversity as a value and a practice.

Our mission is to bring awareness to the benefits of cultural differences, the issues behind racial profiling and misconceptions affiliated with diversity on all levels. Throughout our work, we will support diversity in all of its forms, encompassing but not limited to age, disability, economic circumstance, ethnicity, gender, race, religion or sexual orientation.

I must admit driving through  Durham  via the 407 was quite different from the congested bustle of Toronto, I joked about  passing some cows on  Salem Rd when I arrived.   The warm welcome into Durham was certainly impressive. The community love was felt, the colors, the familiar faces, it  all  represented our Caribbean Community.

Durham establishes in 1974 is a city that I would have to admit is on the map as it relates to the diversity witnessed last night. From seeing funny man Jay Martin do is thing at keeping the crowd well entertained to G98.7 fm  Mr Fitroy Gordon setting the record straight, that the voiceless will have a voice through his determination to see Caribbean people united worldwide. The recognition and efforts of JN Money Transfer,   Mr Wilks Consulate General of Jamaica, the efforts of all the community members was well recognized. lets not forget  about the food, it  brought me right back home in a sexy tasty way. As a West End Advocate I would certainly encourage you all to fill your tank and take the ride to Durham Region with in the next week and certainly  marking June 28 2015 as a must attend event when the festivities go live.
